Founding Data Scientist – Recommendations | Early-Stage AI Startup

An early-stage AI company is looking for a Founding Data Scientist to lead the design and deployment of recommendation systems from scratch. You’ll be shaping core product experiences and working closely with engineering, product, and growth to build systems that help users discover and engage with AI-generated content.

What You’ll Do

• Design and deploy ranking and recommendation models

• Run A/B tests to drive engagement and retention

• Analyze user behavior and content signals to inform strategy

• Build evaluation pipelines (relevance, diversity, novelty)

• Influence product and data direction from the ground up

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years in data science or ML, including recommender systems

• Strong Python, SQL, and experimentation skills

• Startup mindset: scrappy, curious, hands-on

• Ability to work cross-functionally and independently
