Senior AI Engineer – Conversational AI & Agentic Systems
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid or Onsite)
A mission-driven healthtech startup is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to lead the development of conversational AI (text & voice) and intelligent agent systems that power critical workflows for users across healthcare and social services.
What You’ll Do:
Fine-tune LLMs (GPT, Gemini, OSS) for empathetic, effective text and voice interactions
Build AI agents that reason, plan, and act across internal APIs and workflows
Integrate speech tech (STT/TTS), handle prompt engineering, and optimize dialogue flows
Collaborate on AI strategy, mentor peers, and help scale MLOps infrastructure
Deploy production-ready models in a regulated, real-world environment
What You Bring:
5+ years in NLP/AI engineering with strong Python and ML stack (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face)
Experience with LLM fine-tuning, telephonic chatbots, STT/TTS integration
Hands-on with agent design, tool usage, and multi-step reasoning
Cloud expertise (GCP preferred), MLOps knowledge, API/backend integration skills
Bonus Points:
Background in healthcare/social care
Familiarity with HIPAA/data privacy
Experience with telephony APIs (Twilio, Dialogflow)
