Lead PLC Field Technician

About the Role
Sibling Recruitment is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead PLC Field Technician with a strong background in PLC-based control systems to support projects across multiple locations nationwide. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the installation, configuration, and commissioning of programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. In this role, you will mentor technicians in the field, oversee integration and startup efforts, and serve as a key technical point of contact for both internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities
Field Execution: Lead field installation, wiring, and commissioning of PLC systems for industrial automation and BMS applications across various nationwide project sites.
Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot PLC programs and field devices, ensuring seamless communication with SCADA and HMI platforms (e.g., Ignition).
Project Coordination: Partner with engineers and project managers to execute startup plans and ensure systems are installed according to design specs.
Client Interface: Provide technical support during startup, answer client inquiries during commissioning, and resolve complex issues on-site.
Protocol Configuration: Configure industrial protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and OPC UA across various field devices.
Documentation: Develop accurate as-built documentation, redlines, and commissioning checklists.
Team Leadership: Mentor and coach junior field technicians, managing materials, timelines, and priorities across multiple active job sites.
Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience working with PLC systems in construction, mission-critical, or industrial settings.
Hardware & Platforms: Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
SCADA & Networking: Demonstrated experience with SCADA/HMI systems (Ignition experience preferred) and industrial networking protocols (Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, BACnet).
Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, network diagrams, and mechanical plans.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead field crews, delegate tasks, and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Travel & Safety: Willingness to travel up to 95% of the time across the USA. OSHA 10 certification (obtained within the last 2 years) is required. (Note: If not current, OSHA 10 training will be provided and must be completed within the first week of employment).
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel frequently to job sites across the United States by car or plane (up to 95%).
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs/lifts, and move throughout active construction/industrial sites for extended periods.
Ability to work in tight or confined spaces, bend, kneel, crouch, and work at elevated heights.
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity to handle precision tools, wiring, and small components.
Visual keenness to read schematics, digital displays, and correctly differentiate color-coded wiring.
Ability to safely operate hand/power tools and wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots).

Compensation & Total Rewards
Estimated Compensation: $42.00 – $54.00 / hour ($87,000 – $112,000 / year base) + Overtime + Daily Per Diem.
(Actual compensation is determined based on individual experience, technical certifications, skill level, and geographical project placement).
