SCADA Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA (Multiple Locations / Remote Options Available)

Job Type: Full-Time

Estimated Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 / year (Commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled SCADA Engineer to join our team in designing, developing, and deploying modern SCADA and Building Management System (BMS) solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on owning core SCADA functionality, creating scalable architectures, and delivering high-reliability systems from initial design through commissioning and ongoing support.

In this role, you will work closely with project managers, control designers, and clients, utilizing modern tools like Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform to build industry-leading industrial automation solutions.

Compensation & Perks

  • Base Salary Range: $80,000 – $105,000 / year (depending on experience and certifications)

Key Responsibilities

  • SCADA Development: Design and configure Ignition Perspective views using reusable UI components and modular design standards.

  • Tag & Data Management: Build and maintain User Defined Types (UDTs), tag structures, and tag providers for PLCs, field devices, and enterprise network integrations.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Configure alarm pipelines, trending tools, data historians, and custom reports tailored to customer requirements.

  • Commissioning & Testing: Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and provide both on-site and remote startup/commissioning support.

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnostics and root-cause troubleshooting for PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.

  • Standards & Quality: Participate in code reviews, contribute to internal templates/best practices, and maintain thorough project documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

What You Bring

Required:

  • Certification: Ignition Core Certification is required.

  • Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in SCADA/HMI engineering (with strong emphasis on Inductive Automation Ignition).

  • Scripting & Software: Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python (Jython), SQL, or Java for SCADA logic and database interactions.

  • Domain Knowledge: Solid grasp of industrial networking, HVAC/BAS controls, BMS integration, low-voltage control panel wiring, and field device commissioning.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Demonstrated capability to independently diagnose industrial networks, PLC hardware, and SCADA communication links.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
